WHY NEPTUNE HEALTH'S PRODUCTS ARE BETTER THAN THE REST
THE PROCESS
Neptune Health Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids are purified using a new technology called molecular distillation. This state-of-the-art process is performed on equipment which is specifically designed for the production of very sensitive compounds like omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. This procedure gently removes toxins from highly sensitive fish oils and produces clean, pure, toxin-free DHA and EPA for human consumption. The result is high-quality, pharmaceutical grade fish oils. Premium fish oils carry a premium price as it takes approximately 10 gallons of health-food grade fish oil to produce 1 gallon of pharmaceutical grade fish oil. Your health is worth taking the extra time and money to ensure that you are getting a top quality product. With Neptune Health products, you are guaranteed top quality, pure fish oils. Neptune Health products are all manufactured in a pharmaceutical licensed production facility according to pharmaceutical production protocols. Our oils are third party tested and certified to be free of environmental contaminants such as mercury, PCB's, and dioxins.

What are Essential Fatty Acids?
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are “good fats” that are required for normal growth and development. They are not manufactured by the body so we need an adequate daily intake of these essential fatty acids to keep our bodies in the best possible health. Our diet now includes huge amounts of oils that are extracted from plants and used for cooking or in prepared foods. These oils (such as corn oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, peanut oil, soybean oil) are primarily omega-6s. Not only does our body require a steady supply of EFA's, but also the proper balance of Omega-3 to Omega-6 EFA’s. The proper balance of EFA’s has an effect on blood pressure, cholesterol levels, proper nerve transmission, pain and inflammation.
What are the best sources of Omega-3 Fatty Acids?
Cold-water fish such as mackerel, sardines, cod, salmon and anchovies are the best sources. Since most of us do not eat enough seafood to get adequate amounts of Omega 3’s, it is important to supplement our diet with high quality fish oils, like Neptune Health Omega oils.
Will I experience any side effects from taking fish oils?
No. People usually say they can work longer and feel less tired when they supplement their diet with fish oil. They also report having greater mental acuity. There have been over 17,000 unbiased research studies done on the benefits of taking fish oils with no negative findings. It has been tested for its effect on conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and joint pain. Fish oils act as mild blood thinners so please check with your health care professional if you are taking medications.
Is it true that when fish oil is produced, any toxins in the fish are concentrated, making it dangerous to take fish oil?
Some fish oils may contain environmental toxins that accumulate in fish during their life span. However, any pollutants or toxins are eliminated with our technologically advanced processing and distillation techniques and by starting with the best quality raw materials. Our fish come from the cold waters of the North Atlantic, which is the most sought after source of fish in the world. They are bathed in lemons, which reduces the fish odor often found in fish oil supplements. Neptune Health fish oil, even when taken in the liquid form, has no aftertaste. We believe that Neptune Health’s fish oils are unsurpassed in quality anywhere in the world, and we invite our competitors to compare their products with ours.
If I am pregnant should I take fish oil?
DHA, one component of fish oil, is necessary for normal, healthy development of the eyes, brain, and nervous system. There is evidence that a deficiency in Omega-3 fatty acids can lead to an increased risk of premature birth. Since the baby is using a pregnant woman’s DHA, it is important for her to get sufficient DHA in her diet. Some experts recommend that women take 500-600 mg of DHA per day during pregnancy and while nursing. It is best to check with your health care professional before starting.
What is the recommended intake of Omega-3 fatty acids?
ISSFAL Recommended Dosage Chart Category Weight Dosage (International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids)
· Infants (1-18 months) 0-15 lbs 32 mg/lb EPA+DHA
· Children (1.5-15 yrs) 15 mg/lb EPA+DHA
· Adults 650 mg EPA+DHA (220 mg EPA and 220 mg DHA minimum)
· Lactating Women 300 mg DHA daily
Can I take fish oils if I am using medication?
Omega-3 products can change the viscosity of your blood, so they should not be used of you are planning to have surgery, if you use blood thinners or if you take a lot of aspirin. Check with your health care professional to be sure.
Will taking fish oil cause any undesirable side effects?
Generally speaking, no. Usually people experience having more energy and they are able to work longer hours without the “mental break” that we need after several hours of mental activity. In other words, you can stay focused for longer periods of time.

Can I get the same benefits from vegetable oils like Flax Oil instead?
Not exactly. Omega-3 fatty acids can be obtained from two distinct sources: plants and fish. When derived from plants it is called Flax Seed Oil, yielding so-called alpha linoleic acid (ALA). When derived from marine sources it is called Fish Oil, yielding both EPA (EicosaPentaenoic Acid) and DHA ( DocosaHexaenoic Acid). Most medical studies have focused on the benefits of EPA and DHA, as opposed to ALA.
The human body can convert ALA to EPA and DHA, but very slowly. The conversion can be also be inhibited by various conditions such as a diet high in linoleic acid (Omega-6), trans-fatty acids such as fast foods and baked goods, alcohol intake, certain health conditions, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies (B3, B6, C, zinc, magnesium). Experts believe that only about 1% to 5% of ALA converts to EPA, and it may not convert to DHA at all.
What are the signs of EFA deficiency?
Typical signs of EFA deficiency include:
Mood swings or depression, Memory problems, Fatigue, Weakend immune system, Heart problems, Dry skin or eczema, Vision problems and dry eyes, Hair loss, Reproductive problems (both men and women).
